Hospital Services

Acute Services

IDHS has eight (8) hospital beds available for our community if they need to be admitted to hospital for a wide range of medical conditions.  Patients are supported by a skilled and caring team of nurses, allied health professionals and local general practitioners.

All Patients who are admitted to Inglewood & Districts Health Service and are Medicare ineligible, will be provided with relevant information about the costs of their treatment and all of the information required by the health service is collected during the inpatient stay.

Urgent Care Centre

Urgent Care at IDHS is available 24 hrs a day, 7 days per week.

IDHS has two (2) Urgent Care beds and can assist with non-immediately life threatening illnesses, injuries and emergencies. In life threatening emergencies please call 000.

Patients in the Urgent Care Centre are assessed and triaged by nursing staff according to the severity of the illness.  Patients can receive treatment from a Rural and Isolated Practice Registered Nurse (RIPRN), Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) or can be transferred to a larger facility if specialist treatment is required.

There is no charge for Urgent Care presentations at IDHS for Medicare Card holders.

Advanced Care Planning (ACP)

Advance care planning (ACP) is about making your future healthcare wishes known in case you are too ill or unwell to speak for yourself. It makes sure those who are looking after you know what your wishes are and what is important to you for your healthcare.

All admissions to our acute area will be asked if they have an ACP or if they would like to help to complete this. We encourage our patients/ clients to develop their ACP with their General Practitioner – If you would like more information regarding Advance Care Planning speak to your GP.

Infection Control

Inglewood and Districts Health Service Infection Prevention and Control Nurse has responsibility for monitoring infections, methods of control, rapid identification and investigation of outbreaks of potential infection hazards.

The Infection Control Nurse is also responsible for developing and evaluating policies aimed at preventing infection and its spread and providing education for staff on measures of infection control.  Surveillance of targeted hospital acquired infections also occurs.

Transition Care Program (TCP)

The Transition Care Program provides short-term support for older people following an admission to hospital. The program is aimed at providing more time and support to get well after a hospital admission to return to home or into a residential aged care facility. The Transition Care Coordinator will work with the client, family and other health professionals in supporting you to meet your goals.
