Inglewood Trainee

Inglewood & Districts Health Service (IDHS), located on the original 1863 hospital site, serves around 5,500 people in southern Loddon shire, including Bridgewater, Inglewood, and nearby towns. IDHS features a 2-bed urgent care centre, 8 acute beds, a 35-bed aged care home, and a large community health service. In 2023-24, a new community health and wellness centre was built, offering services like mental health, AOD, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, speech pathology, diabetes education, and more.


Key responsibilities and duties:

This role offers a dynamic and supportive environment, perfect for developing your administrative skills in community health services. You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering exceptional service by treating patients, residents, visitors, and staff with dignity, respect, and confidentiality

  • Managing communications by answering and transferring calls, taking messages, and handling inquiries at the reception or ward base

  • Handling cash transactions and performing front-end cash handling tasks as needed

  • Supporting logistics by assisting with transport and fleet bookings, and coordinating supplies by helping to order consumables following purchasing procedures

  • Assisting administrative staff with general office duties, including meeting coverage

  • Managing medical records by completing, storing, and filing patient admission records, data entry, and inpatient files

  • Collecting and filing records for the Health Information Manager post-coding

Key selection criteria:

To excel in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and take pride in your work. Teamwork is essential, but you should also be able to work independently and show initiative. Be ready to learn, work hard, and go the extra mile. To be the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in office administration and/or finance

  • Capability to interact positively, friendly, and professionally with others

  • Competency in Word and familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities

  • Ability to work well in and contribute to a supportive team environment

  • Willingness to commit to a 12-month tenure and complete a Certificate III in Business

Requirements:

  • A current and satisfactory National Police Record Check must be completed prior to commencement

  • As a health provider dedicated to providing quality patient care, each staff member has a responsibility to comply with IDHS' Staff Immunisation Policy and various infection control policy and procedures. All staff are required to provide evidence of vaccinations prior to commencement at IDHS
